Hello friends!

Gut health is endlessly fascinating to me. I think it’s completely wild that our microbiome has its own circadian rhythm and that stress can have such an outsized impact on our digestive system (the mind-body connection is real, y’all).

But when re-listening to the gut health compilation episode of the Liz Moody Podcast, I was struck by just how much information on gut health there really is, and how overwhelming it can be to start the process of healing your gut. But I want to let you in on a little secret: You don’t have to do a crazy elimination diet and make yourself miserable just to make your gut run a little smoother.

That’s why I put together a 5-day “reset your gut” plan that’s actually doable. I can’t emphasize enough how much it can help to keep up with these simple, sustainable habits long-term, though, so let me know how I can support you in that.

So! Without further ado, here’s your 5-day gut reset plan. If you run into any challenges or have any questions, feel free to reach out in the comments or DM me here.

5-day gut reset

Day 1: Treat your gut like an ecosystem

Your gut microbiome is a thriving ecosystem! Like any ecosystem, it needs diversity to flourish. According to Dr. Tim Spector, a diversity of plants in your diet is key. Different microbes feed on different types of fiber and polyphenols, so eating the same three vegetables every week won’t cut it. The goal isn’t perfection, it’s variety over time.

🌱The challenge:

Add 3 new plant foods to your meals today. Try fennel, red cabbage, lentils, purple sweet potato, hemp seeds, radicchio, or kiwi. Herbs and spices are great too, and if you can pack in something fermented, that’s even better. And here’s a hot tip: Frozen veggies count! They are frozen at peak freshness, so they’re actually PACKED with nutrients—check out my guide to roasting frozen broccoli if you need inspo!)
